Coats, NC: Mr. Nelson Durane Currin, age 75, of Fleming Road passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Wake Medical Center in Cary surrounded by his loving family. There will be an open-door visitation on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 12:00PM to 5:00PM at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats and the family will not be present. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM, Friday, September 5, 2025 in the Coats City Cemetery, Coats, NC. Rev. Jesse Mooney will officiate.
Mr. Currin was born on March 27, 1950, in Wake County, NC to the late Nelson and Coma Lee Coats Currin. He was owner and operator of Currin and Currin Construction and Rentals for 50 years with his wife, Donna, by his side. One of Mr. Currin’s passions was investing in land and property ownership which he was able to do by being a partner with Curr-Well Developments. He was a member of Coats Baptist Church for over 30 years. Mr. Currin was an avid hunter, fisherman, and lover of the outdoor. If you couldn’t reach him on one of his two cells phones, more than likely he was on a boat or in a tree stand. Mr. Currin loved his dogs, Mattie, Gracie, and Baby. He was a car and truck enthusiast. He was an early riser and enjoyed going to Ma’s Grill and the Corner Grill every morning to meet his friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Donna Currin; children, Donna Lynn Currin Sears and wife, Wendy, Andrea Currin Villareal and husband, Roney; grandchildren, Justin Ryals, Jonathan Ryals, and Harrison Villareal; one great-grandson, Jameson Ryals; sister, Denise C. Matthews and husband, Craig; brother, Derek Currin and wife, Patty; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to St. Jude’s's’ Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to The Myelodysplastic Syndromes Foundation, Inc., at www.mds-foundation.org.
