Nettie Winston Jackson

It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the passing of Nettie Winston Jackson, who left us on Monday, October 13th, 2025, at the age of 75. Nettie was born on a beautiful Sunday, March 5th, 1950, in Birmingham, Alabama. She lived a rich and full life in Decatur, Georgia, where she touched the hearts of many and created a legacy of compassion, service, and dedication.
Nettie was the beloved Director of African American Initiatives at the American Heart Association, where she served passionately. Her career was marked by her unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of her community, advocating for awareness and education in African American heart health.
Nettie's life will be commemorated with a series of services held at Rainbow Park Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia. A visitation will take place on Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, providing an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to come together and pay their respects. Her life will be celebrated in a joyful and heartfelt Celebration of Life service on Friday, October 24th, 2025, at 11:00 am, also at Rainbow Park Baptist Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory- South Dekalb, who have provided compassionate assistance in this time of sadness.
Though Nettie may have left this earthly realm, her spirit, love, and dedication continue to live on in the hearts of those she has touched. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
