A Celebration of Life Gathering for Nettie Schaffer, 61, of Milo, will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo. Nettie loved Milo and volunteered and contributed to many projects and organizations that would benefit Milo. In honor of Nettie, memorials may be made to Milo Community Projects, Inc. Nettie Lorraine Schaffer was born June 15th, 1963 to Richard and Della Miller in Des Moines, Iowa. Nettie was the 6th out of 7 children. Younger, but always spunky and in charge. She loved her siblings and their families fiercely.
Nettie graduated from Southeast Warren High School in 1982. Nettie was married to David Schaffer on July 3rd 1987. The love of her family was instilled in her by her parents, Richard and Della. Miller family reunions and Christmas's were always a highlight with the whole family being together. When Della needed a little help in the later years of her life, Nettie insisted that she take a lead role in her care, even though Nettie's health wasn't the greatest at the time. She loved her boys Jasper and Jared, but the highlight of her family was the granddaughters: Jaide, Della, and Novah; and great granddaughter, Timber.
Milo was her hometown and she loved supporting and volunteering whenever needed. She volunteered at the school and especially like to be there when the chili and cinnamon rolls were served. Nettie could often be found in her flower garden enjoying the outdoors.
Nettie passed away December 13, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Della; and siblings: Nancy Horton, Rick Miller, and Rock Miller.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, David Schaffer; sons: Jasper Eckstein, and Jared (Teawna) Schaffer; granddaughters: Jaide Sponsler, Della Schaffer, and Novah Schaffer; great granddaughter, Timber Wolfe; siblings: Diane (Charles) Hougland, Deb (Mark) Peterson, and Tim (Kenda) Miller; brothers and sister -in-law: Paul Horton, Ken (Tammy) Schaffer, Lorrie (Jim) Peters, and Bobby Schaffer; along with many relatives and friends.
