Nicholas J. Blumette, 88, passed away on September 15, 2022 at Bailey Family Center for Caring in St. Augustine, FL. Nicholas was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to parents Nicholas and Mary Blumette. He served his country in the United States Navy active duty for 4 years and Navy Reserves for four more. After returning home from the military, Nicholas worked for the New York Transit Authority. Nicholas worked for 35 years before retiring and never took a sick day. He was very dedicated to his career and family. They resided in New York after his retirement spending time with family and friends. In 2012 they followed their daughter to Florida where they became parishioners of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Favorite past-times include Sports, he was a huge NY Mets fan, but enjoyed football and hockey. His favorite game show was The Price is Right. He also loved watching old movies from the 30's and 40's and so on. He loved trying all types of good food and wine and loved taking family vacations on cruise ships.
Nicholas is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen Celine Blumette; three daughters, Helen Blumette of St. Augustine, FL, Patricia Blumette of St. Augustine, FL and Gina Blumette of Fernandina Beach, FL; sister, Patricia Roache of Saratoga Springs, NY and grandchildren, Robert Sabo and Tracy Sabo
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Our Lady of Good Counsel with interment to follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00pm. Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at St. John Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Cancer Society, Multiple Myeloma Cancer Treatment at https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html
Funeral arrangements were trusted to St. Johns Family Funeral Home.
