Edward "Ed" Robert Podbielski, aged 61, of Jacksonville, FL, departed this life peacefully on September 11, 2025.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 3, 1964, to Charles and Tessie Podbielski, and was the second youngest of five siblings. During his teenage years, his family relocated to New Hyde Park, New York, where he was raised. On January 5, 2015, he married his devoted wife, Gretchen, and together they shared 10 beautiful years of life and love.

A true New Yorker at heart, Ed remained a proud supporter of the Yankees, the Giants, and Islanders throughout his life, rarely missing a game. After meeting Gretchen, he delighted in sharing his love of his home state with her, taking her to many games, while also enjoying trips to new vacation destinations together.

Ed devoted nearly two decades of service to the Transportation Security Administration under the Department of Homeland Security.

He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Canarejo Podbielski, his brothers Matthew Podbielski, Robert Podbielski (Penny), Christopher Podbielski (Sue), and Andrew Podbielski (Camille Ciavatella) as well as his two nieces and two nephews, along with many loving family members and friends.

Visitation will take place at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine, Florida, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in St. Augustine on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., with interment immediately following at San Lorenzo Cemetery.
