Nicholas “Nick” J. Romer, age 75, of Celina, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at Van Wert Manor. He was born on August 21, 1949, in Celina, Ohio, to the late Thomas and Mary (Schoen) Romer.
Nick is survived by his children, July (Scott) Mosier of Van Wert, Nick Jr. (Marlene) Romer of Lutz, Florida, Mary Romer of Enumclaw, Washington, and Ross (Leah) Romer of Fairview Park, Cleveland; grandchildren, Derrick and Dillon Mosier and Gabriella Romer; a brother, Thomas (Pat) Romer of Coldwater, and a brother-in-law, Bill Knostman, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Cathie Knostman, and a brother, George (Beverly) Romer.
A 1967 graduate of Coldwater High School, Nick proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1971, actively serving in Vietnam and attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he was employed at New Idea in Coldwater, the Lima Tank Plant, Minster Machine, and most recently, Eaton Corporation in Van Wert.
Nick grew up as a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater, where he served as an altar boy. In recent years, health challenges limited his ability to attend services, but his faith remained important to him.
Above all, Nick was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished the simple joys in life. He had a special love for his dogs—Sally, Bear, Scout, and Missy—who were faithful companions over the years.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 18, 2025, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater, with Father Barry Stechschulte officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Elizabeth Cemetery in Coldwater, with military honors conducted by VFW Post #5713 and Celina American Legion Post #210.
