Nick was born November 16th, 1965 and is the son of Diana and Donald Illies.
Nick graduated from STMA HS in 1984 and pursued further education obtaining a bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University. He married the love of his life, Michelle, in November 1991. They welcomed their two wonderful kids, Matt in 1993 and Katie in 1995. His family was his greatest joy.
Nick was known for a wide array of things including being an avid golfer, making some of the best food, watching some of the worst TV shows, and most importantly cracking a joke to lighten the mood at any given time. A man who could seemingly connect with anyone, talk about anything, and brightened the days of those he interacted with is a rare feat – yet Nick did all that and more.
He is survived by his loving wife: Michelle Illies; children: Matt Illies of Monticello and Katie (Will) Kujak of Winona; his mom: Diana Illies of Saint Michael; siblings: DeeDee (Steve) Fessler of Saint Michael, Kim (Bob) Ayres of Maple Grove and Bill (Sherry) Illies of Albertville; mother-in-Law: Darlene Johnson of Blaine; sister-in-law Suzie (Russ) Jensen of Otsego, sister-in-law Chrissy (Scot) Anderson of San Bernardino, CA along with numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. In addition to that he is survived by his best friends Russ Jensen, Mark Bestick, and Bill Pieper along with many other great friends.
He is preceded in death by his dad Donald Illies, father-in-law Gene Johnson and by a sister-in-law Heidi Johnson.
Funeral service will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM all at The Peterson Chapel – 300 North Main Street – St. Michael, MN.
