Nila Jean Spaude passed from our world to God's kingdom on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the age of 93 years.
Nila was born on August 31, 1930, in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of William and Eleonora (Schulz) Neuman. Her baptism on September 18, 1930, made her a child of God. On April 2, 1944, she reaffirmed her baptismal faith when she was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. On June 27, 1954 she was united in marriage to Rev. Milton Spaude at St Paul's Lutheran Church. Nila served the church in many ways, including serving as librarian of the church's library for 50 years. She also served as librarian at Michigan Lutheran Seminary for 22 years, retiring in 1991.
Nila and Milton were blessed with four children: Carolyn Hosbach (Daniel), Jonathan (Donna), Thomas (Angela) and Paul; also, her grandchildren, Andrea Hosbach, Allison (Timothy) Hoffmann, Adam (Marian) Spaude, Jason (Megan) Spaude, Nathan (Megan) Spaude; and great-grand-children, Noah, Lyla, and Abram Hoffmann, and Naila and Abbie Spaude. Nila's husband, Milton, and her sister, Carol Smith, preceded her in death.
Nila was a dedicated, faithful, and loving wife and mother. She loved to travel, sing, read, and spend time at their cabin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1020 Court St. at Bond St. Pastor Julius Buelow will officiate with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:30 a. m. until the time of the funeral service.
