Nita Ann Haney

Nita Ann Haney passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 80 years old.

Born in Roscoe, Texas, on January 15, 1945, Nita grew up deeply rooted in the values of faith, family, and community. She graduated from Roscoe High School in 1963 and later from Texas State University, where she was active in campus and society life.

On September 11, 1965, she married the love of her life, William ("Bill") Garland Haney, Jr., of Roscoe. Their marriage of six decades was a testimony of devotion, faith, and perseverance.

Together they raised two sons, Gabriel Garland Haney (Jessica Orman Haney) and Casey Hamilton Haney, who were the pride of her life. Nita cherished her role as grandmother and is survived by many loving grandchildren.

Nita was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who poured her time and energy into her church and community. Over the decades, her name appeared often in both the Corpus Christi Caller and the Corpus Christi Times in connection with her civic and church life. She was known for her warmth, hospitality, and steadfast faith, always offering a smile, a prayer, or a kind word to those around her.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; her sons, Gabriel (Jessica) and Casey; her beloved grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lois Buckner, and other loved ones who now welcome her home.

Service Information

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 4 at Mirador Senior Living in Corpus Christi.
