Richard McDowell Bullock Sr.

Richard McDowell Bullock, 86, passed away on October 1, 2025. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, to Willard and Pauline Bullock, Richard spent his formative years in both Ohio and Alabama. He graduated from Vigor High School in 1957 and went on to earn his degree from the University of Alabama in 1964.

Richard enlisted and served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960. On February 27, 1965, he married the love of his life, Jane Valerie Grace, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. He later worked with the Coastal Bend Council of Governments, contributing to his community with dedication and integrity.

Richard was a devoted father and grandfather, whose greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He had a lifelong passion for learning, a love of travel, and a deep appreciation for music. He was known for sharing a laugh while drinking an old fashion, often accompanied by his signature easy smile.

He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering patience, and warm sense of humor. Richard touched the lives of many with his kindness and grace.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Valerie; his brother, Tom Bullock; and his sister, Margaret "Maggie" Bullock.

Richard's memory lives on through his children: Richard Bullock Jr., Michael Bullock and his wife Jennifer, and Mary Grace Bullock; and his cherished grandsons, Jacob and Josh.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.
