Noah Vernon Luffman, affectionately known as Vernon, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in his hometown of Elkin, North Carolina. Born on October 28, 1940, in Elkin, Vernon lived a full and meaningful life, reaching the age of 85.
Vernon dedicated much of his professional life to the real estate industry, where he made significant contributions before retiring. His career was marked by leadership and service, having served twice as president of the Elkin Lions Club and the Surry Regional Association of Realtors. He also held the position of regional Vice President of NC Realtors, demonstrating his commitment to his profession and community.
A proud veteran, Vernon retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force, where he served his country with honor. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for 30 years. Vernon was also actively involved with Gideons International, reflecting his dedication to service and outreach.
Vernon is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Noah and Hallie M. Luffman; his cherished wife, Peggy Beam Luffman; his brothers-in-law, David Williams and Alton Pardue, and son-in-law Terry Love. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his daughters, Terri Love and Sheryl Gilliam (Randy); his sisters, Sylvia Barker (Fred) and Brenda Williams; his sisters-in-law, Linda Jacobson and Betty Gish (Bob); his grandchildren, Alison McMahan (Brian), Morgan Roman (Justin), and Roman Gilliam (Savannah); and his great-grandchildren, Mila and Noa Roman. Vernon will also be fondly remembered by his special friend, Jerry Fugate.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mahaela A. Vatca and the staff at Atrium Health/Wake Forest Baptist Oncology and Hematology of Elkin, as well as the compassionate nurses at Medi Hospice, for their exceptional care and support.
Visitation will be held at Elkin Funeral Service on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service to celebrate Vernon's life will take place at Friendship Baptist Church on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM, followed by burial in the church's cemetery.
Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Gideons International at PO Box 95, Elkin, NC 28621, in memory of Vernon.
Vernon Luffman will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, community, and faith. His legacy of service and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
