Nora Joan Darrah, 84, of Cambridge, died peacefully on Friday September 12, 2025, in the loving care of the staff at Sunrise of Braintree. Joanie was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Darrah. She is survived by her sister A. Patricia Fortini, and her husband Edward of Falmouth. She is also survived by her nieces Patricia M. Farren of Medford, Beth A. Fortini and her husband John O'Connor of Quincy, Erin C. Meuse of Boston, Michelle M. Carbeau and her husband Bill of Southborough, Caitlin J. Meuse of Watertown, her nephew Brian C. Meuse of Concord and her grandniece and grandnephews Sean, Molly, Jack and Michael. Joan is also survived by her cousins Reverend John Hurley of Washington, DC and Neil Hurley of Somerville. She was pre-deceased by her sister Mary "Connie" Farren and her husband Cornelius of Medford, her brother Kevin F. Driscoll and his wife Marcia of South Carolina and her sister Geraldine T. Meuse and her husband Carl of Concord. She was also predeceased by her nephew Mark E. Fortini of Philadelphia.

Joanie's family would like to especially acknowledge her long-time friend, Thomas Hart and his family, of Walpole. They are eternally grateful for all the care and assistance Tom provided to Joanie for many years.

Daughter of the late Mary T. (Crowley) and Cornelius J. Driscoll, Joanie was born in Cambridge and raised in Somerville. She attended the Immaculate Conception School and was a graduate of Matignon High School Class of 1958. Joanie met Bob, the love of her life, in 1960 when they were both working for Harvard University. They were married in May of 1963 and enjoyed many happy years together, first in Somerville and then Cambridge, until Bob's death in 2000. Joanie's parents immigrated from County Cork, Ireland and she was immensely proud of her Irish heritage. She loved reading books about Ireland, attending Irish festivals and keeping in touch with her relatives in County Cork. Joanie also enjoyed taking day trips to Maine and New Hampshire, browsing antique shops and long telephone conversations with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

Visitation on Wednesday, September 17, from 9:00am to 10:00am at St. Peter Church, 100 Concord Ave, Cambridge immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am. Burial at Cambridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Irish Pastoral Centre of Boston in Joanie's memory.
