Nora Arlene Hanshew

Nora Arlene Gill Hanshew, 95, of Meadow Bridge, WV passed away on October 18, 2025 at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV following a short illness.
She was born January 8. 1930 in East Beckley, WV to the late James Leonard and Orpha Gill.
Arlene was a homemaker and a caring loving person. She attended the Springdale Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Delbert Hanshew; 2 sisters, Eva Hanshew and Louise Williams; 2 brothers, Edward Gill and Paul Judy and a foster daughter Tammy Patterson.
Survivors include her son, Robert (Gerry) Hanshew of Millville, WV and daughter Jeanne (Danny) Harrah of Meadow Bridge, WV.
Those that they raised and counted as their own, Kathy (Keith) Bailey of Beckley, WV., Peggy Sifers of Lancaster, SC. and Natalie Hamrick of Meadow Bridge, WV.; brother, Tommy (Kathy) Gill of Great Mills, MD.; 3 sisters Frieda Black and Carolyn Adkins of Ft. Myers, FL. and Gaye (Jim) Avery of Millington, TN.; 2 sisters in law, Myrtle Gill of Mullins, SC. and Eva Judy of Crescent City, CA.; grandchildren, Heather (Jacob) Lea of Duncan, SC., Derek (Rachel) Harrah of Aviano, Italy, Justin (Kristen) Patterson of Falling Springs, VA., Jordon (Jamie) Patterson of Frankford, WV., Kerri (Shawn) Williams of Smith Mt. Lake, VA. and Kaylee Avila of Lancaster, SC.; 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
As her request her body was donated to the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine and then cremated.
There will be no service at this time.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that donations of sympathy be made to Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Ave., Lewisburg, WV 24901.
