Norma Beck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cantelmi Long Funeral Home - Bethlehem on Mar. 4, 2026.
Norma A. Beck (Klausen), 89, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her home on March 3, 2026, surrounded by family, a few days after an unexpected diagnosis of multiple myeloma cancer. Born on January 16, 1937, in Bethlehem, Norma was the beloved daughter of the late Niels H. Klausen and the late Mildred B. Bright. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 51 years, Philip D. Beck. Norma was also predeceased by her sister, Esther O. Klausen.

Following graduation from Liberty High School in 1954, Norma worked as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank of Bethlehem, where she met Philip Beck. They committed their lives to each in marriage on June 20, 1959. As they started their family, Norma dedicated her life to being a loving homemaker, creating a warm and nurturing household. Once the children were older, she returned to work and served with distinction as a receptionist at St. Luke's Hospital for 30 years.

A longtime and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Norma found deep joy and peace through faith in her Lord Jesus Christ which guided her throughout life. Her love and gratitude for her Savior were evident in both how she lived and in her many songs and poems that expressed heartfelt praise and thanksgiving to Him. She shared her gift of music through the church choir and her service as a soloist. People still recall their fond memories of her singing "O Holy Night" at the Christmas Eve service for many years.

Norma will be remembered for her engaging smile, friendly nature and creative gifts and talents. She used her beautiful soprano voice in singing praises to her Lord at home and for others. She donated her time, talents and sewing skills to make COVID facemasks, hundreds of dresses sent worldwide in Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, and baby care items used in mission hospitals of the North American Baptist Conference.

She is survived by the children she cherished: Diane L. Beck of Bethlehem; Deborah E. Truszkowski and her husband Dennis of Lebanon, TN; Douglas A. Beck currently residing in Budapest, Hungary; and Amy C. Beck of Bethlehem. Norma was a proud grandmother to Kristen (and her fiancée Travis) and Justin (and his wife Taylor). She is also survived by her siblings: Miriam Gale, Wesley Klausen, Vivian Shupp, and Beverly Mancke.

Norma's bright smile, gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and steadfast faith will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She touched many lives with generosity, kindness, and love.

Services: The funeral service and celebration of Norma's life will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 5300 Green Pond Rd, Easton, PA 18045. A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until the start of the service. Norma's arrangements have been entrusted to Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
