Norma Luz Gorritz was born on February 15, 1958, in Brooklyn, New York, to Norma Teresa Reyes and Carlos Manuel Gorritz. The eldest of three daughters. At the age of 13, Norma moved with her family to Puerto Rico, where she completed middle school and high school.
While attending Colegio Universitario del Turabo with dreams of becoming a teacher, Norma made a bold decision to relocate to Miami Beach at just 23 years old, seeking new opportunities and a fresh start.
In 1985, Norma welcomed the greatest joy of her life: the birth of her beloved son, Carlos Joel Gorritz. As a devoted single mother, she worked tirelessly—often in the banking industry, a field she loved and where she touched countless lives with her warmth, guidance, and genuine care. Her generous spirit, magnetic personality, and gift of conversation helped her forge lifelong friendships that became like a second family.
In 2009, Norma moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida, to be closer to her family, especially after the birth of her great-niece Natalia. There, she embraced a quieter pace of life, continued to build meaningful relationships, and became a familiar, friendly face everywhere she went—even while waiting in line at Publix.
Norma’s smile could light up any room. She was known for her quick wit, compassionate heart, and deep love of the arts—especially music, TV, and movies. Her creative passions included crocheting, diamond art, and coloring, but her greatest joy was found in the kitchen. Cooking was more than a hobby—it was a tradition passed down from her mother and grandmother, and her meals brought people together. Her food—and the love she poured into every dish—will be deeply missed.
Norma passed away on August 4, 2025, following a stroke suffered on July 31. Even in death, she remained a true giver: she donated her liver, giving the gift of life to a 72-year-old man.
Norma's legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the laughter she shared. She will be forever remembered, cherished, and missed by all who knew her.
