Norma (Root) Morrison of Gravois Mills, Missouri, died on November 3, 2025, at the age of 90 with her two children Valerie (Morrison) Galloway and Craig Morrison by her side.
Norma was born on September 14, 1935, in Morgan County, Missouri to Clarence and Neva (Marriot) Root. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Alson Root who she deeply loved and protected.
Norma married Billy "Red" Morrison, on her sixteenth birthday, September 14, 1951. The couple had two children, Valerie (Morrison) Galloway and Billy "Craig" Morrison. Norma and Red had four grandchildren, Zach Morrison, Travis Galloway, Morgan Galloway, and Alex Galloway. In the years following Red's death in 1998, Norma celebrated five great-grandchildren and recently marveled at her new great-great-grandson.
Norma spent her life at the Lake of the Ozarks and swore it was the most incredible place on Earth. She and Red owned various businesses at the lake including Gravois Boat and Dry Dock (later known as Blue Anchor), Morrison's Mooring (later known as Millstone Marina), Morrison's Realty, and Laurie Realty. Norma's identity as a realtor was an incredibly proud accomplishment and afforded her opportunities in her life that would have been fantastical to generations preceding her including waking up each day with a view of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks.
Following Red's death, Norma was married to John Berlett until his death in 2015. She was delighted to have found a partner to spend many years with, and she would often say he "adored" her.
Norma will be remembered by friends and family as having a spirit and passion far beyond her small stature which led her to relentlessly pursue her dreams. Friends and family are encouraged to attend Norma's visitation on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
