The well lived life of Norma Jean Schwarzel (Nee Camden) began on March 30, 1934 and ended in the twilight moments of October 9, 2022. She was 88 years old. March 30, 1934 - October 9, 2022. The dash between those dates are filled with experiences and memories, life, love and loss, tragedy and triumph all which define who Norma was. Norma grew up in the Excelsior Springs, Missouri area. She also lived in Huntington Park, California for several years before returning to and eventually settling in Crystal Lakes, Missouri where she lived the remainder of her life in her beloved home "The House That Jack Built"
Norma was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a cheerleader, Mayor of Crystal Lakes, an office manager and a King James Baptist Christian. Norma enjoyed dining out with family and friends. Her favorite foods included Chinese, Mexican and Thai. These are only brief highlights of Norma's life.
Norma's most treasured roles in all of life were that of: devoted wife of "Jack" John George Schwarzel, her one and only sweetheart; doting mother of her two sons, John Paul Schwarzel and Mark William Schwarzel; adoring "Mama Papa Jack" grandma of Adam Brock Schwarzel (Mandy Jo), David Michael Schwarzel, Rozlan Jean Schwarzel and great-grandson Harper Ryan Schwarzel. Norma was always happiest when surrounded by her family.
In the wake of her absence many family members and friends will fondly reminisce the many moments they shared with Norma. Including her sister, Phyllis Butler of Crystal Lakes, Missouri, lifelong friend Roy Marlin of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and King James Bible study friends Joyce and Wayne West of Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
Thank you to everyone who gathered with us today to celebrate and honor Norma. Thank you for sharing the loving memories you experienced with Norma in the moments that define her dash.
A visitation will be held Friday, October 21, 2022 10-11 AM at Hidden Valley Funeral Home, 1015 H Hwy, Liberty, Missouri 64068. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM, and graveside services will follow that at Enon Cemetery, south of Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

My mother Shirley Tyra and Norma we good friends for many years. I so enjoyed seeing them laugh together as they both were, as my Mom would say, "Barely 5 feet". I was her hair dresser for a few years also, and she was always upbeat and happy. She will be missed. My condolences.
