Norman Stanley Konczal

Norman S. Konczal, beloved husband of Rosemarie (Alcini) for 68 years, passed away peacefully at the age of 93. Loving father of Kevin (Linda), Scott (Janet), and Jeanne Ellen (Charles) Reddie. Cherished grandfather of Candice, Tyler, Charlie, Matthew, Rosemarie, and Billy. Dear brother of Elaine Boucher Igielski and the late Dr. Vernon Konczal. Proud great-grandfather to Kylie Jo and Kennedy along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Known for his sharp wit and dry sense of humor, Norman enjoyed time with friends at the Rambling Roses, was a life-long Tiger's fan, he remained active in St. Therese's Parish, and was a regular helping hand at the First Friday Fish Fry, often found peeling potatoes with a smile. After retiring, he continued serving others at Wasik Funeral Home.
A Korean War veteran, Norman served honorably in the 40th Infantry Division and received the Combat Medic Badge – Korea. He was a graduate of U of D Jesuit and Eastern Michigan University, and retired after 30 years with Lockheed Martin on the Lance Missile Project.
A devoted community member, he served on the Pleasant Ridge Recreation Board, St. Mary Credit Union Board, and as Athletic Director at St. Mary Elementary in Royal Oak. He coached CYO girls' basketball and directed invitational tournaments. His service earned him the Ed Crow Award for outstanding contributions to youth in the CYO program.
Norman also gave his time to The Salvation Army, Capuchins, and St. Leo's Church.
Instate Tuesday 9:30 AM until 10 AM Funeral Mass at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church 48115 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 21 Mile Rd), Shelby Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations to U of D Jesuit or Shrine High School are appreciated.
