Newmarket – Norman Robert St. Pierre, 90, of Wadleigh Falls Road died peacefully January 25, 2023 at his home in Newmarket.
Born July 9, 1932 in Willimantic, CT, he was the son of Wilfred and Dora (St. Hilaire) St. Pierre.
He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Parish, Newmarket, and served on the Parish Council and as a Collector.
He was a graduate of Newmarket High School, Class of 1950.
Norman served in the US Air Force from 1952 – 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He was a 32 year member of the Robert G. Durgin, American Legion Post #67 in Newmarket.
He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after thirty years as a machinist and shop planner, and he worked for several more years at Vitronics before ultimately retiring.
Norman enjoyed bowling in the Newmarket Men's Bowling league for over fifty years.
Norman enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in high school. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
He was predeceased by his brother Raymond and sister Marieanne.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Ruth (Hood) St. Pierre of Newmarket; two children, Nancy St. Pierre of Maryland and Gary St. Pierre and his wife Jean Ann of Nottingham; two grandchildren, Suzette & Christopher both of Conway; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 29th from 3 – 5 p.m. at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home & Crematory, 77 Exeter Road (Route 108), Newmarket. An American Legion Service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 30th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 182 Main Street, Newmarket. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockingham VNA & Hospice.
