Norman Troth Obituary
GRATIS — Norman "Red" Troth, 81, of Gratis, passed away on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025.
He was born on May 14, 1943, in Cincinnati, to the late Nelson and Julia Troth. Norman graduated from North College Hill High School and Ball State University, where he played football and baseball. He spent many years teaching and coaching at Middletown High School before starting a hay business with his sons. Red thoroughly enjoyed retirement, living each day to the fullest with his family, friends, and his beloved animals, including his dogs Bea and Milly, horses, chickens, ducks, goats, cats, and his beloved Mr. Fish.
Red was preceded in death by his parents and older sister Ann.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Cathy; sons Jeff (Kathy) and Tim (Heather); cherished grandchildren Delaney, Riley, and Samuel who thought the absolute world of him; his sister Inez (Joe) Enderle; his brother Nelson (Eloise) Troth; nieces Jenny (Mike) Bowman and Stephanie Henderson; nephew Joel Enderle; great-nephews Chris (Blair) Moore, Zach (Amanda) Moore, great-nieces Rachael Henderson and Lauren (Mike) Jerit, and numerous cherished cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, from noon until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Gard Funeral Home, 113 Ada Doty Street, Gratis, with Jimmy Gambrell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis.
After the cemetery, the family invites friends and loved ones to join them at the Gratis Eagles for dinner and sharing memories about Red's life. Memorial contributions may be sent to Preble County Humane Society, P.O. Box #72, Eaton, OH 45320.
