Official Obituary Of Martin J. Neenan

East Bloomfield - Martin J. Neenan, age 73, passed away peacefully, on February 8, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joan (Morsch) Neenan; three children Matthew (Lisa) Neenan, Elizabeth Neenan and Molly Neenan; beloved granddaughter, Amelia Neenan; five siblings, Margaret O'Day, Rita (Charles) Horn, Bernard Neenan (Theresa Flaim), Tricia (Joseph) Sutherland and Robert (Deborah) Neenan; sister-in-law, Jennifer Neenan. He was predeceased by two siblings, Alice Neenan and Gerald Neenan.
Marty was born in Canandaigua and was the son of Louis and Helen (Baker) Neenan. He grew up in Bloomfield, attended Bloomfield schools and was a graduate of Bloomfield Central School, class of 1968. Marty earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell University, class of 1972. As a young man, Marty worked on the family dairy farm on Michigan Street in Bloomfield. He retired in 2019 after 25 years of employment with BOCES.
Marty was an active member of the Bloomfield community. He was involved with the fire department, EMS, paramedics and was a founding member of MEDIC 60. Marty was also involved in local politics and an active member of the Bloomfield Scientific Club. After retirement he continued his service to the community, volunteering at the East Bloomfield Historical Society and the Antique Wireless Museum. Marty was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and bird watching. He was a member of St. Bridget's Church.
Friends may call Saturday, February 24, from 2-4pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 2 South Ave., Bloomfield. A memorial service will follow the visitation at the funeral home.
