Oletha Jane Covington, 89, of Marlow, passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2025 in Ada, Oklahoma. She was born on July 12, 1935 in Stonewall, Oklahoma to her parents Roy and Lena Hatton. Oletha attended and graduated from Owl Creek/ Stonewall in 1953 and went on to become a renowned ordained Minister and Reverend for over forty years. She married the love of her life, Arthur Covington, in Purcell, Oklahoma in 1954 and together they shared sixty-two wonderful years until Arthur's passing. Oletha loved her garden, going fishing, and working with youth groups in her spare time. She also cherished her relationship with God and loved to read her Bible and take care of others. Oletha will be dearly missed by all of those who were blessed to have met her.
Oletha is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Covington, her daughter Teresa Balthrop of Marlow, Oklahoma, seven brothers; Leeroy Hatton, Leon Hatton, Richard Hatton, and Bill Hatton all of Ada, Oklahoma, JB Hatton of Luther, Oklahoma, Gerald Hatton of Pickett, Oklahoma, Doug Hatton of Seminole, Oklahoma, two sisters Juanitta Capps of Ada, Oklahoma and Darlene Chambers of Stonewall, Oklahoma, and her parents Roy and Lena Hatton of Stonewall, Oklahoma.
Oletha is survived by her three sons Mike Covington of Tupelo, Oklahoma, Wally Covington of Bray, Oklahoma, and Allen Covington of Marlow, Oklahoma, her sister Freda Johnson-Hatton of Ada, Oklahoma, her brothers Ray Hatton of Byng, Oklahoma, and Patrick Hatton of Seminole, Oklahoma, her ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service held to honor Oletha's life on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 2:00PM at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Ada, officiated by Earl Hood.
