DELMAR- Olga Tymciw Swick passed peacefully from this life into the next on March 29, 2026. Olga was born in New York City to her beloved Ukrainian parents, John and Mary (Bilous) Tymciw. The youngest of three children, Olga was an avid reader from an early age. She often avoided helping her mother with housework by having her nose in a book, as her father believed you should never disturb a child who is reading! After graduating as a teacher from City College of New York, Olga taught high school English at public schools in Newcomb and Berne NY. In 1950, Olga married the love of her life, Joseph Frank Swick, and they had three children. Olga and Joseph were among a small group of families that founded the Montessori School of Albany in 1965. When her children were older, Olga trained to become a Montessori teacher and worked for many years at the Montessori School of Albany, which grew to become the Woodland Hill Montessori school in North Greenbush. Olga was truly a teacher at heart, but she was a lifetime learner as well. In later years she enjoyed listening to audiobooks, watching Jeopardy, and doing the LA Times crossword puzzle daily. Olga was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Walter Temshiv and Stephen Temshiv, her husband Joseph, and her firstborn son J. Stephen Swick. She is survived by her daughter Allison (Michael) Borden, her son Jonathan Swick, her niece Stephanie Temshiv, and 15 grandchildren whom she adored. The family would like to thank Olga's special caregivers, Tom Napierski and Patty O'Brien, for their gift of friendship to Olga for many years. A private graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont at 1 pm on Thursday, April 2.
