Oliviero Vellone, 85 of Poughkeepsie, NY died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children. on June 29, 2022. Oliviero was born on May 23, 1937 to Salvatore and Giovanna Piacente Vellone. He married the former Lidia Vona on September 1, 1976 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, NY and survives at home. A local resident for over 46 years, Oliviero was a previous resident of Aquino, Provence Frosinone. He was the owner of Arlington Cleaners and Tailors in Poughkeepsie, NY. Oliviero was a member of Holy Trinity Church, a club member of the Italian Center and loved his Mercedes Benz and traveling. He also enjoyed entertaining guests in his home with his homemade gnocchi.
In addition to his wife Lidia, Oliviero is survived by daughters Filomena Vellone, Maddalena Lebron, Giovanna (John) Strang, all of Poughkeepsie, NY, grandchildren Brianna Vellone, Gianna Reilly, Luca Reilly, Jose Lebron, Jr, Lidia Lebron, Antonio Caron, Brayden Strang, Giovanni Strang and sister Elia (Libero A. DeMarco), Aquino Provence, Frosinone. Oliviero was predeceased by his sister Pasqualina Vellone, and his brothers Luigi, Ennio, Mario, Orlando and Domenico.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
