Orbin Long

Orbin Long, age 97, a beloved child of God, passed away from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Orbin was born to Jeff and Stella Masters Long on August 1, 1928 and was a lifelong resident of Madison County. He was the last remaining child of 17 children.

In addition to his parents and siblings, Orbin was preceded in death by his wife Greabith Dargavell Long and his grandson: Glen Allen Long

Orbin leaves behind to mourn his passing four children: Harold (& Judy) Long of Lexington, Sue (& David) Hamilton of Richmond, Wanda (& Eddie) Coffey of Lancaster and Jo (& James) Sizemore of Berea, eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Orbin was a faithful member and deacon of Fellowship Baptist Church in Richmond. In younger years, he could often be found in the pulpit sharing the word of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Whether preaching the word or singing a song, Orbin shone with the love of God and helped lead many souls to Christ. His sweet disposition and humble demeanor led him to make many friends. Wherever he went, he was loved and respected by everyone he met.

In earlier years, Orbin was an avid fisherman and hunter. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends enjoying a laugh and a story or two. Even though he had no formal education, he learned to read in his adult years. Being able to read his Bible brought him such great joy.

Mr. Long was hardworking and dedicated and spent many years as a farmer. Eventually, he got a job at Exide and retired from there at the age of 65. Even though he will be greatly missed, we take comfort knowing he is with his Lord and Savior. Orbin leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and memories we will cherish forever.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Adrian McKinney and Rev. Jami Hamilton officiating. If you're unable to attend, the service will also be livestreamed at www.cpcfh.com.

Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Dale Stacy, Brandon Sizemore, David Hamilton, Eddie Coffey, James Sizemore and Mike Hamilton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Long, Allen Sizemore, Hunter Stacy, Brian Long and Jagger Coffey.
