Otha Dee Thompson, a resident of Seagoville, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2025, at the age of 95.

Born in Tolosa, Texas, on January 22, 1930, Dee was a proud graduate of Kemp High School Class of 1947. Dee served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Austria. It was during that time that a lasting love story began—he and Mildred Wyble became penpals while he was overseas. That friendship turned to love, and they were married on September 19, 1953. Together, they shared 71 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership.

Dee was a devoted husband and a loving father to two sons, Tommy and Jimmy. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, he was a steady, kind, and caring presence who took deep joy in his growing family.Professionally, Dee was first known as Seagoville’s trusted barber, and later as a successful real estate agent. Beyond his work, he gave back tirelessly to his town, serving various civil roles in the City of Seagoville. Dee was an avid reader with a curious spirit, a champion chili cook, and a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a deep love for all of God’s creatures and approached life with quiet wisdom and gentle strength.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Wyble Thompson of Seagoville; his son, Jimmy Thompson and Sharla; daughter-in-law Pamela Thompson; and grandchildren: Elijah and Amber Thompson, Joshua and Tiffany Thompson, Tierni Thompson Sulgrove and Allen Sulgrove, Shea and Christina Thompson, Heather and Chad Peterson; Great-grandchildren: Bronc, Reese, Avenly, Paisley, Stella, Emilee, Tommy, Noble, Shane, and Ryan.
