Owen Patrick McShane, Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on August 2, 1945, in New York, New York, he was the eldest of five brothers, and cherished son of Catherine Shelley McShane and Owen Patrick McShane.
A dedicated family man, Owen was married to his loving wife, Barbara (predeceased), for 47 years. He is treasured by his two children, Owen Michael McShane (Elizabeth) and Katherine McShane (Owen). He was a source of unwavering support and guidance, instilling in his children the importance of kindness, humility, and family.
Owen shared a deep and special bond, rooted in cherished memories of their upbringing and their beloved parents, with his brothers: John (predeceased), Joseph, Kevin (predeceased), and Thomas Aquinas.
Owen was a true family man. Not only did he love being a father, but he was an incredible brother-in-law to Karen and Kitley, and a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews, Alexis (predeceased), Sarah, Brooke, John and Maxwell.
Owen was a proud alumnus of Fordham Preparatory and Fordham University, where he developed a lifelong passion for education. His education instilled in him the values of integrity and service of others, which he carried throughout his life.
Owen's professional life was marked by dedication, leadership, and compassion. After more than 30 years of committed service, he retired as the President & CEO of a company where his presence was both inspiring and transformative. Owen was a rare leader, one who combined strength and decisiveness with deep empathy for those who worked with and for him. His ability to guide others, while remaining compassionate, touched the lives of many.
Owen was blessed with many lifelong friends from every chapter of his life, from his days at the prep and college, to his time on Penny Lane, and throughout his career and beyond.
Owen will be remembered for his warmth, clever humor, and deep love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at McGrath & Son Funeral Home in Bronxville, NY, from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, October 4, 2024.
A celebration of Owen's life will be held at 10am, Saturday, October, 5, 2024, at the Fordham University Church, Bronx, NY.

Owen was the very first boss I had after graduating college. He was a very fine person and the BEST boss. I am so sad to hear of his passing. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
