Pamela (Pam) Lynn {Johnson) Baker was born on October 20, 1957 to Ardell and Theresa Johnson of Lino Lakes, MN. Pam passed away unexpectedly on Friday November 29th, 2024 at 5:00 pm peacefully at home.
Pam grew up and attended school in Lino Lakes, MN. Pam married David Baker on June 27, 1987 in Lino Lakes. They lived in Bethel for the first 7 years of their marriage until they bought Birch View Resort in Baudette, MN in the spring of 1994. They operated Birch View until December of 2019. They moved to their current home just outside of Baudette where they currently reside. Pam retired for a short period of time and then worked briefly at ANI in Baudette. Eventually she found her perfect retirement job dealing with the fishing industry that she loved so dearly – a perfect match for her.
Pam is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 36+ years, David Baker. She is also survived by her siblings, Jerry (Lynn) Johnson, Greg Johnson, Shelly (Todd) Truman, nieces and nephews: Tara (Kyle) Gonyer, Stacey (David) Tyler, Travis Truman, Jeremy (Cassie) Johnson, Chad Johnson, Adam Locher and many great nieces and nephews. Sister-in-law, Susan Baker, Johnnie (Amanda) Bartnick and nephews Blake and Carter Bartnick.
Preceded in death by Ardell and Theresa Johnson, in-laws Mel and Shirley Baker, Sister-in-law Sharon Bartnick, niece Tammy Weinman, and nephew Brandon Johnson.
Pam was an avid NASCAR fan and she and Dave attended many races across the country. Pam loved to travel and visit national parks – she made it to all but a few. Hunting deer and fishing were a big part of Pam and Dave's lives. She successfully got 3 deer this year. Deer hunting season was a national holiday in Pam's world and she loved hunting with her husband, sister, brothers and nephew. She out fished Dave (really all of us) for the biggest walleye (so far).
Pam loved to camp with Dave and her family. They camped at many campgrounds in Minnesota and across the country. A highlight was Bryce National Canyon.
Pam had a love for crafting and creating planters and holiday décor. Her annual "Pot Parties" were a little different than you might think – they made Christmas Pots. She created a beautiful Dragonfly out of repurposed ceiling fans (she generously gave Dave at Slims her first creation that put a big smile on his face to remind him of spinner fishing time). She loved making them and giving them away – she has one proudly hung on the light post at their home.
Pam loved nothing better than gathering with family and friends. Family meant everything to Pam. She will be so missed by so many.
A Funeral Service for Pam will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00PM at the VFW in Baudette. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the VFW. Interment will take place at Elm Park Cemetery.
