Pamela H. Hood, age 81, passed away November 16, 2023 at Indian River Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Pam was born June 11, 1942 at Los Angeles General Hospital in Los Angeles, California to the late Aubrey and Hilda Horn. She attended Scripps College in Claremont, California for 3 years as an Art major and completed her bachelor's degree in art at Oklahoma State University, Education degree from Chapman College, Orange CA; and her master's degree in special education from Western Washington University and a secondary master's degree in library science from the University of Washington.
She was a highly talented watercolor artist who taught art in elementary and high school and sold nautical pieces in her twenties and early thirties.
She had many hobbies, but the most important of those were her love of reading, her love of being outdoors working in the yard with her flowers and trees and her love of art. She was very passionate about all three of these areas.
In addition to her hobbies, she remained interested in many areas all of her life. She loved all breeds of dogs; she liked horses and was very much interested in Astronomy and the heavens as well as an intense interest in the Native Americans of the Southwest United States. In her down time, she loved watching old Jackie Chan movies and also loved reading books by Terry Pratchett and Daniel Silva.
Pam enjoyed volunteering. She volunteered at the Naval Undersea Museum as a Docent, Evinrude Museum in Stuart, Florida as a Librarian, and Friends of the Library in Poulsbo, WA and in Vero Beach.
The definition of Pam's life can be summed up in two areas. As a Lutheran she absolutely loved our Lord. She also loved her family and friends without limits. A one word definition for Pam is LOVE.
Pam is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Hood; sister, Valeire Wall of Arlington, Washington; niece, Jessica Arnold of Everett, Washington and nephew, Thomas Wall of Oak Park, Illinois.
A private burial will take place at Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.
Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
