Pamla Jo (McCroby) (Winther) Davitt, 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
Pamla was born on May 8, 1955, in Morgantown, West Virginia to Ronald A. McCroby and Barbara J. (Morrison) McCroby. She was raised in the Cincinnati, Ohio area and left Ohio to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served a religious mission in Sweden as a young woman. Upon her return, she pursued a sales career in San Francisco and Seattle before relocating to Denmark where she continued to excel in her sales career and expanded her Swedish and Danish language skills. During her sixteen years in Denmark, she married Hans-Jøren Winther and started her family with a son, Jason Winther. She returned to the Cincinnati area and honed her entrepreneurial skills in her start-up company, HOPS Technology. She pursued her sales and technology endeavors with determination and drive and made innumerable personal and professional connections.
Pamla's consummate dedication and devotion were to her role as Jason's mother. As a single mother, she tirelessly used her skills, talents, and savvy to meet their needs and create a home filled with love and beauty.
Pamla was musically talented and could be heard singing in commercials, choirs, solos, or simply to lift the spirit of another. She embraced her beauty and had a flare for fashion. Her deep love for Scandinavian culture enticed her to join The Scandinavian Society of Cincinnati, and she took great pride serving as a Board Member, President, and Secretary. She frequently participated in speaking engagements and assisted with hosting cultural events.
She met and married James Davitt on May 3, 2014 and together they nurtured their loving union in Deer Park, Ohio. Pamla and Jim opened their home regularly for meals which became well-known among young church missionaries as "The Bib Club," a fun dinner hour at the Davitt table! Pamla's personal endeavors were faith-focused as she served in church callings and assignments. Her favorite calling was serving as a Sunday School teacher to elementary-aged children who came to love "Sister Davitt" and who often sent her get-well cards when she was periodically hospitalized.
She faced her battle with cancer for almost two decades with fearless optimism. Her faith in Jesus Christ and her understanding of eternal truths buoyed her spirits during years of illness. She helped and served others in a myriad of ways despite her own challenges. She was a bright light to many friends and family members and shared her faith boldly whenever and wherever she went.
Pamla is survived by her husband, James Davitt; her son, Jason Winther (Denmark) and grandson Villads Winther; her sisters Lauralee McCroby, Holly (Richard) Gaetano, Pollyanne (Ellery) Savage, and Sarah (McCroby) Brady, and nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved: Max (Megan) McCroby, Riggs (Rose) Brady, Lilia (Tucker) Merchant, Tucker Brady, Noah Savage, Evelyn Cossey, Mackenzie Savage, and Isabella Brady. She was preceded in death by her parents Ronald & Barbara McCroby and her brother Ronald Scott McCroby.
Pamla's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the many friends and church members who have poured out their love, care, and helping hands during her times of health challenges. You are appreciated beyond measure.
