Pasquale "Pat" A. Proia
Of Waltham, formerly of Newton, passed away peacefully on Monday morning August 5th, 2024 with loving family by his side in Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a brief illness at the age 88.
Born on June 12, 1936 in Newton; son of the late Dominic Proia and Jennie (Conzo) Proia. Pat was raised, educated and lived the majority of his life in Newton before moving to Waltham 8 years ago.
A graduate of Newton High School with the Class of 1955; where Pat met his high school sweetheart and love of his life Rose. Together Pat and Rose raised a family with love through hardwork and determination. Pat established himself from a young age as a true entrepreneur. Pat and Rose established several business ventures throughout thier lives in the hospitality industry including owning and operating "Pat's Restaurant" on North Street in Newton and a well known sports and concert ticket business in Waltham. He founded "Pat's Ticket Center" on Main Street in Waltham, and later purchased a building on High Street in Waltham to bring all the family businesses together in one place, "Pat's Ticket Center", "Rose Limousine Service" and "Salon XS".
As a successful businessman, Pat's generosity and philanthropy allowed him to support the local communities in many charitable ways including contributing in different capacities for over 60 years at the Newton Boys & Girls Club, the Nonantum Children's Association, Newton Athletic Association (NAA) and many others. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus in Newton.
His greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family. In his spare time many of his different interests & hobbies included; playing cards and sports but most especially he enjoyed coaching & mentoring kids. You would often find Pat having Saturday morning breakfast with family or friends at Cabot's in Newton.
Pat was predeceased and reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife Rose (DeFazio) Proia and his cherished grandson Stephen M. Proia.
He is survived by his devoted & loving children David Proia and his wife Sharon of Waltham; Richard Proia and his wife Rosemary of Waltham; Linda Calleva and her husband Christopher of Waltham; and Patricia Murray and her husband James of Waltham; cherished grandfather of David A. Proia, Daniel D. Proia (Jamie), Nicole M. Proia, Alicia M. DiDino, Domenique R. DiDino, Christopher S. Calleva Jr. and Louis DiDino II; Catherine Murray (Edward) and Laura Murray (Nick); great grandfather of James, Eddie and Morgan; and dear brother of Dominic Proia and his wife Catherine of Newton. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his dear siblings Pasquale Proia, Frances Proia, Alexander Proia, Theresa Proia, Mitilda Proia, Rose "Rosie" Proia.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Pat and his family can do so in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Sunday August 11th from 2pm until 6pm. For those who wish to pay their final respects, but are unable to attend, please be sure to sign the guestbook at www.BrascoFuneralhome.com. Parking attendants will be on duty.
Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Pasquale's life to remember the love and friendship he shared with others on Monday morning Aug. 12th at 9:00 am at the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, NEWTON at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation and thanks to Giselle and the entire staff of American Renal Associates in Waltham for the care and compassion shared with Pat during his many treatments over the years.
