Pat Gunn Obituary

Patricia Harris Gunn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 11, 2025. She was born on January 3, 1948, the third of four children, to a loving family in Swan Quarter, North Carolina. Pat grew up in her tight-knit community, graduated from Mattamuskeet High School-where she proudly played basketball-and later continued her education at Hardbarger Business School.

In the summer of 1965, Pat began dating the love of her life, Ray Gunn. Their devotion to one another was immediate and enduring. The two were married on September 30, 1967, beginning a lifelong partnership built on faith, laughter, and unwavering love.

Pat and Ray spent 1969–1970 living in Germany before moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, where they resided from 1970–1972. They later settled in Washington, North Carolina, a place that became home in every sense. Pat worked as a medical receptionist before dedicating herself to being a stay-at-home mom, a role she cherished deeply.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at just 9 years old, and her faith remained the guiding force of her life. Pat loved singing in the church choir, serving in the Ladies Aid Society, and leading at Roanoke Christian Service Camp. She was a Girl Scout leader for six years with her granddaughter Rebecca's troop, attended countless marching band trips with Paula, and was actively involved with the National Tractor Pullers Association. Through every season of her life, Pat lived her faith with warmth, generosity, and joy.

Pat's happiest moments were spent with her family. She and Ray were truly the loves of each other's lives. Together they raised three children: Paula Williams (husband Eric, deceased); Sean Williams and wife Melissa; and John Gunn and wife Valorie. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Andrew, Robert, Victor, Morgan, Rebecca (husband Trey), and Kayden. Her siblings-Leonard Harris (wife Lynn), Carl Harris (wife Molly), and Carolyn Boyd (husband Graham)-held a special place in her heart.

Pat loved traveling, spending time at Atlantic Beach, singing, serving her church, and especially celebrating Christmas. Her joy during the holiday season was infectious, and her home was always filled with warmth, music, and cherished traditions.

Family and friends will gather to honor Pat's life at a visitation on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., also at Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service.

Pat Gunn lived a life marked by love-love for her family, her community, and her Savior. Her legacy is one of faith, compassion, and a heart that embraced all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Joseph B. Paul Jr. Funeral Service is honored to assist the Gunn family.
