Pat Maday

Pat Maday, aged 86, passed away on March 17, 2025, in Toms River, New Jersey. Born on August 31, 1938, in Jersey City, New Jersey, she dedicated much of her life to nurturing young minds as a Teacher's Aide at Westfield Board of Education.
Pat graduated from St. Michael's High School in 1956 and furthered her education at Montclair State University. Her commitment to education and community was evident in her professional and volunteer activities.
Pat spent many years in Rutherford raising her family as well as North Arlington before retiring in Toms River, NJ.
Pat also found joy in volunteering at Bingo events at Holiday City Heights and was an avid reader, regularly enjoying the Jersey Journal, Star Ledger, and the Bergen Record. Her love of travel took her to favorite spots like Lake George and Cape May, and she was a passionate fan of the New York Jets and Mets.
Pat's family was central to her life. She is survived by her children, Robert and his wife Barbara Maday, and Gerard Maday; her grandchildren, Caitlin and her husband Robert Bukowski, and Kristen and her husband Conner Grawehr; and her great-grandchildren, Claire, Mollie, and Madelyn as well as dear friend Carol Horvath. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius Murphy and Nora (Donohue) Murphy, and her brother, Michael.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 21st from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, starting with a gathering at 9:30 am at the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Liturgy at the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Pat Maday will be remembered for her loving nature, her dedication to her family, and her commitment to the community. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched.
