It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Pat Galan Railsback, beloved husband, father, grandpa, and friend on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 72. Surrounded by loved ones, Pat departed peacefully in his home after a lengthy illness. Born on April 14, 1952, in Waco, TX, Pat was the youngest son of Grady and Dorothy Railsback. He attended LaVega High School, played college basketball for one season at Seward Community College in Liberal, Kansas. Pat returned to Texas to finish his undergrad at Sam Houston State University where he met Janet. He went on to coach and teach for a total of 30 years, 3 years in Clyde, TX and the remainder in Glen Rose. Those who knew Pat remember him for his love for his children, grandchildren, students, and sports. Pat was well-known for his one-liners he often yelled at the referees during sporting events, dad jokes, landscaping, traveling, Dr Pepper, and collecting bricks. Pat married Janet Pederson on May 17th, 1975. Together they built a life full of love, joy, and companionship for 49 1/2 years. Pat was present, supportive, encouraging, and proud of his children and grandchildren. He passed down his silly demeanor, his love of reading, and his dancing skills, leaving a legacy that his family will cherish forever. In addition to his beloved Janet, he is survived by his children, Craig Railsback (wife Jessica) of Midlothian, Kristy Shoemake (husband Kirby) of Thorndale, and Chad Railsback (wife Krystal) of Trophy Club along with his grandchildren Gavin Railsback, Morgan Shoemake, Claire Railsback, Peyton Railsback, and Molly Shoemake. Survived by Mother-in-Law Alice Pederson of Clifton along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father Grady Railsback, Mother Dorothy Railsback, Brother Michael Railsback, Brother Larry Smith, and Father-in-Law Billy Wayne Pederson.
Pat's life will be celebrated with a service at The Rock Church near Cranfills Gap, TX, on Monday, November 4th, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at Glen Rose Methodist Family Life Center, Sunday, November 3rd, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00pm.
