Patrice Ackermann

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Patrice Eileen Ackermann, née McCarthy, who passed away peacefully August 1, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on June 6, 1943, in Hammond, Indiana, Patrice, or "Pat" as she was affectionately known, lived a life marked by immense dedication, warmth, and generosity.
Patrice was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret McCarthy; her beloved husband, Dr. Gerald C. Ackermann; and her daughter, Sandra Jean Ackermann. Her passing marks the end of an era for a family deeply connected and devoted to each other.
Pat is survived by her daughter Susan Henderson (née Ackermann) and her husband Kevin Henderson. Pat is survived by her siblings Joel McCarthy (Linda McCarthy), Kim Monthie and Kathy York (David York). She was the cherished aunt to Stephanie Fox, Jim, Tom, Heidi and Jerry Ackermann, favorite aunt to Joe and Rob Monthie, Katie McCarthy, Megan McCarthy and Kerry Wiersbe (Brian Wiersbe ). She was the grandmother of Ashley Henderson, Chelsey Dowdy (Scott Dowdy), Sybria Henderson, and Shianna Henderson. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Avery Henderson, Hailey Henderson, and Zoey Dowdy. Pat also leaves behind many dear families and friends, including the York, Monthie, Ackermann, Marchiori, Williams, Muench, Ferrini, Composano, Carter families, and Monica Haynes, Sheri Murphy, Mike Opal and Judi Eastwood, along with numerous others whose lives she touched in loving ways.
An exceptional and compassionate surgical nurse, Pat's career spanned over forty remarkable years. Her colleagues and patients alike remember her for her professional excellence and her perpetually warm smile that brought comfort to all those who had the privilege of encountering her. Her giving nature and considerate demeanor made her not only a respected health professional but also a friend and confidante to many.
As a wife and mother, Pat's love knew no bounds. She nurtured her family with kindness, always putting others before herself and ensuring that her presence was felt through both simple and grand gestures alike. Her generosity was a testament to her character, and her legacy lives on through her enduring values of kindness, consideration, and selflessness.
Pat will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society. The family requests that condolences and messages of support be directed to their homes, where they will be cherished and appreciated during this time of mourning.
In honoring Pat's life, we remember her not only through our tears but through the warmth she brought into our lives. Her memory will be a guiding light, forever illuminating our path with kindness and love.
