Patricia Marie Brown

Patricia Abshire Brown, age 87, of Elizabeth City, NC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at her residence. Born in Ansted, WV on January 5, 1936, to the late Claude A. Bibb and Thelma Cole Bibb, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Abshire, and a grandchild, Andrea Villanueva. Patricia loved the Lord and her church. Among her many passions, she found joy in serving others through the jail ministry for The Gideons International. Patricia's compassionate heart led her to share the teachings of the Bible and offer hope to those in need. In her leisure time, she indulged in various creative outlets. Over the years, Patricia enjoyed expressing herself through dance, bowling, painting, and drawing.
Patricia is survived by three daughters, Deborah Gettier of Elizabeth City, NC, Tammie Phillips (Doug) of Chesapeake, VA, Leslie Cockran (Jerry) of Bedford, VA; a son, Terry Abshire of Chesapeake, VA; a sister, Alma Jean Dix of Ansted, WV; two brothers, John Wayne Bibb (Donna) and Fred Bibb, both of Ansted, WV; eight grandchildren, Scott Gettier, Lori Gettier, Lauren Mundy (Alex), Cody Phillips (Angelica), Derek Hayden (Stephanie), Jessica Tennant (Kyle), Spencer Cockran, and Darius Villaneuva; fifteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
