Chesapeake, VA - Patricia Lois (Smith) Clifton, a cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Chesapeake, Virginia, at the age of 65. Born on December 10, 1959, in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the beloved daughter of Helen Roberts and the late George E. Smith.
A proud 1978 graduate of Hope High School in Providence, Patricia found her calling as a Licensed Multi-Lined Insurance Claims Adjuster, dedicating over 20 years to Beacon Mutual Insurance Company. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to her family. After two decades of service, she relocated to Chesapeake, Virginia, to be closer to her daughter, Alisa Reed-Lofton, and her family.
Patricia's heart was forever tied to the shorelines, finding solace and joy at the beach. An avid reader, she spent many hours lost in the pages of her favorite books. Above all, her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved granddaughter, Zuri Lofton, who brought unparalleled joy to her life.
Patricia is preceded in death by her father, George E. Smith, and her brother, George Smith. She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her mother, Helen Roberts; her devoted daughter, Alisa Reed-Lofton; her son-in-law, Synnika Lofton; and her precious granddaughter, Zuri Lofton. She is also survived by her sisters, Rozlyn Jones, Deborah Garnetto, Wendy Smith, Carol Mosley-Smith, Sonya Lynne Burgess, her brother, Robert Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
A celebration of Patricia's life will be held in Providence, Rhode Island, at a later date to honor her memory and the impact she had on those who knew her. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater is assisting her family during this difficult time. Friends and family are invited to share memories and express condolences at CandFServices.com.
Patricia will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and her enduring passion for life's simple pleasures. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
