Dr. Patricia L. Hinkel

Dr. Patricia L. Hinkel, beloved educator, U.S. Air Force veteran, and devoted advocate for troubled youth, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on November 3, 1956, in Canton, Ohio,
Patricia's life was marked by a profound commitment to education and service. A proud graduate of Canton South High School, Patricia pursued her passion for learning, ultimately earning her Doctorate degree. She dedicated her career to the field of education, where she touched the lives of countless students. Patricia's belief in the potential of every child led her to work with troubled students, helping to guide them toward brighter futures. Her time at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility was particularly impactful, as she worked tirelessly to provide both compassion and structure to young individuals in need.
In addition to her educational pursuits, Patricia proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, embodying a spirit of dedication and discipline that would carry through the rest of her life.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Beverly (Reed) Hinkel and her nephew Anthony Hostetler. She is survived by one older brother, another older brother Terry Hinkel and a younger brother Lester Hinkel, and two sisters Joan Mosley and Carol Hinkel Borbonus, niece Tina Bucher, niece Stacee McCray and nephew Victor Mosley. She is remembered not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her kindness, humor, and support of her family and friends.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Crossroads Hospice and The Laurels of Massillon for their care. Also special thanks to her niece, Tina Bucher for her time and special care.
Private family services will be held to honor Patricia's life and legacy. In this time of reflection, we celebrate Patricia's profound impact on education and the compassion she showed towards those who needed it most. Her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she inspired.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions be made in Patricia's memory to local educational programs supporting at-risk youth, embodying her lifelong commitment to helping others.
