Patricia D. Hunt, 76, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at UF Health St. Johns.
Born on August 17, 1949, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to the late Thomas and Minnie Davis, Pat moved to St. Augustine at a young age and made it her lifelong home. She was a dedicated mother, hard worker, and spirited soul whose love for life was reflected in everything she did.
In her younger years, Pat worked for Waffle House for many years-a period that defined much of her early adulthood. As a strong-willed and determined single mother of four, she worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Pat worked for many years as a baker at Winn-Dixie, where her warmth and work ethic left a lasting impression. She later fulfilled her entrepreneurial dream by owning and operating Pat's Thrift Shop, a beloved local store that reflected her passion for thrifting and finding hidden treasures. Her joy for bargain hunting took her on countless cross-country road trips in search of the perfect yard sale.
For over 21 years, Pat was a proud and active member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion, Bert Hodge Post 45, where she dedicated her time to supporting veterans, organizing events, and giving back to the local community. Her involvement was a point of pride, and she found great purpose in serving alongside fellow members. Her deep connection to military service also reflected her love and respect for her father, Thomas Davis, and her husband, Walter Hunt, both U.S. veterans.
Outside of work, Pat found her greatest joy in time spent with her family. Whether camping under the stars or casting a line out on the water, she cherished every moment in the great outdoors surrounded by her loved ones. She especially treasured her many trips to the mountains with her daughter Tammy and her grandbabies-memories filled with laughter, love, and adventure. A highlight for Pat was finally making it to Dollywood, a dream she joyfully checked off her bucket list. Pat was also known for being an amazing cook. Her holiday meals were legendary, and it became a beloved family tradition for her to gift each of the kids big tins of popcorn and homemade Christmas cookies-thoughtful touches that warmed hearts year after year.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Hunt; children, Tammy Bishop, Thomas Russell "Tommy" Keeny and Anthony Eugene Brazell "Tony"; grandchildren, Russell Keeny, Kevin Lee Keeny, Jacquelyn Keeny (Graves), Gary Graves, Patricia Joyce "PJ" Dilworth, Jessica Lynn Moses, Logan Annell Bishop, Sierra Marie Keeny, Zackary Brazell, Trent Keeny, Braedon Chapman and Grace Brazell; great grandchildren, Ashylyn Dilworth, Christian Keeny-Usina, Amberlynn Dilworth, Madison Keeny-Usina, Payton Lynn Bishop, Jackson Moses, Sawyer Moses, Loraina Keeny, Hazel Keeny, Georgia Keeny, Irsi Chapman, Michael Chapman; sister, Linda Davis and step son, Larry Hunt. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Christina Marie Keeny and Lisa Denise Keeny and her parents. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at St Johns Family Funeral Home with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will precede the service from 10-11am.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
