Patricia Sue (Mayfield) Lorenz, 81, of Seymour, Missouri, passed away on October 13, 2025.

Pat was born on November 2, 1943, in Seymour, Missouri, the daughter of Evert “Bill” Mayfield and Virginia (Anderson) Mayfield.

Pat graduated from Seymour High School in 1961.

Pat married Arthur Louis Lorenz on August 2, 1961, in Seymour. Their only child, Christopher Louis Lorenz, was born in 1964. They were happily married for 52 years.

Her career included years at H.D. Lee and Hutchens Industries, and she eventually retired from Seymour Bank after 17 years. After accepting Christ at a young age, she and Arthur were faithful members of Diggins Baptist Church for many years, before most recently attending Seymour First Baptist.

She spent many years as a gifted seamstress and loved to cook and bake for her family, which included what the family referred to as world-renowned burgers, as well as pumpkin and pecan pies. Most of her life was dedicated to working alongside Arthur and her son, Chris, in establishing one of the premier Holstein herds in the state of Missouri, before transitioning to a predominantly Angus beef cattle operation which remains in the family today. She and Arthur also raised and trained registered quarter horses for many years, taking them to cutting horse shows that often involved long drives pulling a trailer and occasionally serving as the stand-in cow during training sessions. In later years, she enjoyed taking trips with her sister, Diana, to the beach, with one of her favorite locations being Sanibel Island.

In her later years, the joys of her life were her great-grandkids, with whom she had the pleasure of spending hours crocheting, putting together puzzles, playing board and card games, working on arts and crafts projects, and watching movies and TV shows. This time also included snacks, candy, and soda being sneaked in that they all knew were off limits. Secondary to the great-grandkids was Gracie, the dappled Dachshund, who was her biggest annoyance until she became her daily companion and source of comfort.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; son, Chris; her parents (Bill and Virginia); in-laws (Walter and Helen Bowers Lorenz); and sister-in-law, Carol Lorenz Kleier.

Pat is survived by her daughter-in-law, Toni (Cline) Lorenz of Marshfield, Missouri; granddaughter, Karisa (Lorenz) Wright, husband Josh, and great-grandkids, Callie, Chloe, and Cason of Seymour, Missouri; grandson Kelby Lorenz of Springfield, Missouri; sister, Diana Mahaffey and husband, Charles, of Springfield, Missouri; brother-in-law, Jerry Kleier of Seymour, Missouri; sister-in-law, Ruth Williams and husband, Alba, of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by nephews with whom she had a special connection: Brian Mahaffey and wife, Sandy, of St. Charles, Missouri; Alan Mahaffey and wife, Karla, of Guthrie City, Iowa; Darren Mahaffey and wife, Sarah, of Springfield, Missouri; Todd Kleier and wife, Stacy, of Seymour, Missouri; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, at 12:00 PM, with funeral services following at 1:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home in Seymour, Missouri, officiated by Dr. Jay Adrain. Interment will be in Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
