Mrs. Patricia Jane McElwaney Mote Palmer of Tyrone passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. She was born on April 10, 1953 to the late H.L. and Ruby McElwaney. She graduated from Fayette County High School in 1972 and went on to West Georgia Technical College where she received her degree in Accounting and Bookkeeping in 1986. After she graduated she was employed with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office for 3 years and then went on to work for Delta Community Credit Union for 30 years, retiring in 2018. She was then employed with Dr. Howell Tucker at Eye Consultants of Atlanta until 2022. Mrs. Palmer was a member of Straight Forward Church in Newnan. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately called her Mammy. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Hansard and her brother, Danny McElwaney. She is survived by her husband, Don Palmer; daughter, Shannon Smith (Andy) of Hogansville; grandchildren, Savannah Cochran, Kane Cochran (girlfriend Lauren); step-grandson, Dylan Smith (Elizabeth); step-great granddaughters, Adelynn Smith and Avery Smith; her sisters, Carolyn Chastain, Sandra Prince (James), and Pam Vaughn; brothers, Franklin McElwaney (Franscine), Ronald McElwaney (Joy) and three grand fur babies whom she loved dearly, Sadie, Penny, and Dusty. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 2 o'clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Cross and Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Parrott Funeral Home & Crematory, 770-964-4800.
