Larry L. Stubbs

Larry L Stubbs, 87, of Griffin, GA passed away Saturday December 28, 2024.
Larry was a graduate of Fayette County High School in 1955 where he was a pitcher on the baseball team. He then attended West Georgia College obtaining an undergraduate degree in mathematics. He later attended Georgia State University's night school to earn his MBA graduating with honors. Larry did this while working full time and helping raise two young sons. He worked for Southern States where he learned drafting. He went on to work for Holan in Griffin who designed and constructed bucket trucks for utilities. At the time of retirement, he was the head of the engineering department and served as an expert witness for legal proceedings. His work took him to various locations in Canada, South America, New Mexico, Colorado and Idaho making friends in each place. His work was recognized as an industry leader regularly speaking at conventions in Williamsburg, VA. Larry's two passions were golf and fishing. There are numerous caps, balls, shirts and shoes won in tournaments played with brothers and good friends and pictures depicting catches throughout the years. He was a volunteer in the community and supported a number of charities.
Larry is predeceased by his wife, Joan Penn Stubbs, son, Allen Stubbs and brother, Richard Stubbs. He is survived by son, Chris (Shelly), granddaughter, Elle, brothers Kenneth, Jeff (Julie) and sisters, Linda Olive (Tim) and Janet Lester (Addison) nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces. He was well loved by the nieces and nephews for his role as Santa at the annual family party.
An animal lover, kind and generous who never met a stranger. He was a loyal friend who kept in touch through the years. He regularly attended monthly meetings with high school classmates until his declining health prevented it. A real loss for our family but we have great memories and stories to retell. He always believed a little humor helped any situation. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
