Elaine Howard Ridgway

Elaine Howard Ridgway, 67, of Hampton, stepped into the arms of Jesus on August 24, 2025.

Elaine was born on August 28, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Homer Hobson "Hop" Howard and the late Louise Echols Howard.

Elaine's life was a beautiful song of faith, love, and service. She loved music and especially loved to sing-whether in church, with friends, or simply around the house, her voice carried joy. Teaching was more than her work; it was her calling. She delighted in encouraging others, sharing what she knew, and helping people along the way.

In her younger years, she served as a summer missionary and youth leader, pouring into the lives of young people with her faith and energy. Elaine had a heart that noticed people and made them feel loved. Those who knew her will remember her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering spirit of encouragement.

Those left to cherish Elaine's memory are her husband, Michael Ridgway; children and their spouses, Karen Daniel (Andrew), Chad Ridgway (Jessica); grandchildren, Payton, Able, Collier, Brielle, Barrett; brother, Bill Howard; sisters, Debbie Williams and Sandra Howard.

A visitation will be held at Hampton First Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service celebrating her life at 12:30 p.m.

Elaine's song may have ended here, but the melody of her love, faith, and joy will live on in all of us.
