Patricia “Pat” Ann Mendicki, 93, of Frontenac, Kansas left this world on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 1:28 PM. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

Patricia was born to Ralph and Ann (Haas) Modlin on December 26, 1928 in Fredonia, Kansas and eventually became a lifelong resident of Frontenac, Kansas. She married Matt C. Mendicki on October 14, 1950 at Sacred Heart Church in Frontenac, Kansas. He preceded her in death in July 1979.

Together they had four children, a daughter, Rosann (Mickey) Kelly of Burneyville, Oklahoma, three sons, Matt (Pam) Mendicki, Patrick (Lori) Mendicki of Frontenac, Kansas and Paul Mendicki of the home. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Randy and Christina Kelly, Shawn and Melissa Kelly, Jarrod Mendicki, Haley and Shawn Bugni, Kate and Jason Shelby, Kadin and Lauren Mendicki, and Tanner Mendicki, as well as ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Modlin, a sister Amelia (Tootsie) Oldham.

Patricia worked for many years in the printing industry and as a custodian at Frontenac USD 249. She worked for True Value and also took on babysitting known as “Grandma Pat” to many. Later in life she worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart for 16 years, known as “The Hugger”. She loved people and had to retire due to health issues. She enjoyed polka dancing at the Idle Hour, picking and cracking pecans, and making leprechauns for her grandkids, great-grandkids, and many kindergarten children all over the US.

She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and also loved going to the casino. She was a Den Leader for the Boys Scouts. She helped organize Meals on Wheels in Frontenac, Kansas and was a member of Scared Heart Alter Society and Frontenac American Legion Auxiliary. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady for Mt. Carmel. Patricia was Grand Marshall in the 2021 Frontenac Homecoming Parade. She founded the flying “A” club with many charted members. Her biggest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Rosary will be said at 6:30 PM Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac with Father Josh Evans saying the rosary. The family will receive friends after the rosary until 7:30 PM. Private services and burial will be at a later date at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Avalon Hospice. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, KS 66712.
