Patricia Poynter Parkey, age 79, passed away August 6, 2023 at her home.
Pat was the daughter of the late Raymond and Stella Poynter. She was preceded in death by her sister, Madeline Mowdy; her nephew, Alan W. Dobbs; and her great nephew, Kurtis Carrico. She is survived by her daughter, Patti Hash (Kevin) of Louisville, Ky; former husband, William H. Parkey of New Albany, Indiana; niece, Susan Carrico (Larry) of PeWee Valley, Ky; nephew, Edward Dobbs of Lexington, Ky; grand-dog, Millie and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Also, many great friends, including: Charlie, Lucy, Tracy, Shari, Buckie and Paula.
Pat was born in London, Ky. She was a graduate of Corbin High School and Marinello Beauty School of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a former piano teacher. She was the former organist and choir director of the Salem Presbyterian Church, Salem, Indiana and was an elder in the church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Corbin, a member of the choir and helped with the children's music program. She was a former hairdresser and worked for Jeanette Gilbert in the Sonna Lou Beauty Shop formerly of Corbin and beauty shops in nursing home complexes in Louisville, Ky and Corbin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alex Lockridge and Father Adam B. Carrico officiating. Burial will follow in Snuffer Cemetery in East Bernstadt, Ky.
Visitation will be Noon to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home Chapel.
