Patricia Bell Renskers (Ashenhurst), of Medford, Oregon went home to her Lord and Savior after an extended illness on September 1, 2024. She was 85.
Patty was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 17, 1939 to Raymond and Eva Ashenhurst (Phipps). She spent her childhood in Cleveland, Ohio (where her brother Harry was born) and in Jonesport, Maine before her parents settled in Independence, MO. She married Dale Thomas, in Independence, June 1958 and they had 2 wonderful children, Debbie and Matt. After her divorce from Dale she moved to Springfield, Oregon where she met the love of her life Gordon Renskers in 1980 when he pulled her over in a traffic stop. They married on New Year's Eve, 1983, but shared well over 43 years together.
Patty moved with Gordon throughout Oregon as he was promoted within the Oregon State Police. They lived in Beaverton, Springfield, Klamath Falls, and retired in Medford. Everywhere they lived Patty made countless lifelong friends. She was an LPN for many years working in Pediatrics at Sacred Heart in Eugene, as a Visiting Nurse in Portland, moving into geriatrics in Klamath Falls, and finishing her career working with Alzheimer's patients in Medford, OR.
She was an avid knitter, making her dishrags for everyone she knew. She frequented yard sales as often as possible hunting for treasures, and was an Avon Lady for almost 36 years. She adored her sweet little dog Peanut, after having cats most of her adult life, who will be well loved and spoiled in her absence. She and Gordon were seasoned Royal Caribbean cruisers, and they camped all over the Pacific Northwest and parts of Alaska with their RV. She was often the camp chef for Gordon's hunting trips.
Patty loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of the RLDS (Community of Christ) church. She loved her church family in all the cities they lived in.
Patty was the best mom, sister, wife, grandma, and friend to so many. She will be forever missed by those who loved her.
She's survived by her husband Gordon, daughter Debbie Andrews (Perry) of Klamath Falls, OR, son Matt Thomas (Sheila) of Frisco, TX and brother Harry Ashenhurst (Danie) Kansas City, MO. Grandkids Meghan Andrews (Tracey) of Medford, Melissa Hoodenpyl (Tait) of Wilsonville, OR, Skylar Thomas of The Colony, TX, Daniel Andrews of Corvallis, OR, and great-granddaughter Logan Jo Hoodenpyl. She has 2 great-grandsons on their way (Oct & Dec) who she was so thrilled about. She's also survived by her ex-husband Dale Thomas of Leawood, KS. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who have been so great throughout her illness.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother (Ray & Eva) and her oldest grandson Jeffrey Thomas.
Perl Funeral Home, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford, OR is overseeing the services where there will be an open viewing from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on September 5th and a private burial on the 6th. The family is planning a celebration of life in October, all will be notified of the date.
Patty loved flowers and plants. If you like, you may send these to the funeral home to be placed at her gravesite or to her home in memory of a well lived and colorful life.

Patty always had a welcoming smile for us all. Milton and I still have and use daily the handmade wedding gift of 34 years ago. We deposit our keys in the material basket morning and night while thinking of her and her friendly manner. May your memories of her give you comfort during this time. Milton and Michelle Shigemasa
