Patricia Vesperman Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dahlstrom Funeral Home - Lisbon on Jul. 21, 2024.
Patricia was born 7/26/35, to Walter and Ida (Schelle) Braun, not in a hospital but on a farm North of Glen Ullin, ND. Her mom was attended to by a neighbor who happened to be a midwife. She lived there on the farm and went to a 1 room country school for 2 years. It was then decided that she should live with her Great Aunt and Uncle Wolter's north of Moorhead and be enrolled in the Moorhead Campus School at MSU. She remembered being able to go to the movies such as Lassie and Song of the South was her favorite. She took swimming lessons and piano lessons. When summer came, she was put on the train alone to head back to the farm at Glen Ullin. In 1947 her family moved to a farm by Hawley, MN and Patricia joined them. She went to country school for 2 years and then to Hawley High School where she graduated in 1954. The only way she could go to sporting events that she wasn't involved in was to play clarinet in pep band. Her dad would give her 25 cents to spend at the game and she had to bring home the change! Her responsibilities on the farm were milking cows and watering the 100-200 turkeys that they had, she always said how she hated those damn turkeys. In the summer of '53-'54 she worked at the Hasty Tasty (it would eventually be named Bison Turf) as a carhop, making 75 cents an hour. Every Sunday night they went to Lake Park to roller-skate. After graduation she worked at St. Johns Hospital in the pathology department making $1.75 an hour.
She married Donald Vesperman of Wheatland in November 1956. They lived on a farm by Absaraka, ND for 18 months. Then they purchased a farm East of Lisbon where they would raise their 3 kids, Becky, Gary and Sandee. She milked 20 some cows two times a day for many years along with all the other 24-7 duties of a farmwife. She was a 4-H leader and Sunday School teacher. She loved bowling and was on a weekly league where she won many trophies. She eventually had to get a job in town to help supplement the farm. She worked at Kelsen's Bold Venture and the Eagles Club. She moved to Fargo in 1993 and worked at South Pointe Amoco, Kmart and as a greeter at Sams. She was a 25 year survivor of stage 4 breast cancer. She enjoyed listening to or watching her favorite teams the Bison and the Twins play. She was an excellent seamstress and would sew a lot of her kids clothes. She was a lover of animals especially her Holstein cows, Bobbi her last dog and her favorite cats Snoopy and Zoey. Her quick wit, sense of humor and sound advice will be missed by all who knew her.
Patricia was known as a hard worker. She worked from her teenage years into her 80's. She would have worked longer if not had been for Rheumatoid Arthritis. She passed away on 7/18/24.
She is survived by her 3 kids, Becky (Allen) Reinke, Lisbon, Gary Vesperman, Fargo, Sandee (Kyle) Lunneborg, Verona; 3 grandkids, Nicole (David) Dahl, Verona, Tanner Baker, Verona, and Breyar Baker, Mesa; 3 Great Grandchildren, Harvest, Thresher, and Tilli Dahl;1 sister Eldeine (Dave) Kaldor; brothers Eldon (Kendra) Braun, Richard (Kelsey) Braun, and Tim (Claudia) Braun, and 2 sisters-in-law Marlys Braun and Barb Braun
