Age 80, of Wilmington, Illinois, died Wednesday, February 19, 2025 following surgery at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born on January 29, 1945, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Patricia was the daughter of William and Hilda (Hayes) Nunley. She spent her early years in Tennessee before moving with her family to Illinois, where she continued her education and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1963. Shortly thereafter, Pat started her 38 years of service with the Federal Government working at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant and as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration.
Pat was known for her impeccable style and love of shopping, always carrying herself with grace and care. She found joy in tending to her garden, getting lost in a good book, and spending time splitting a meal with her husband. She valued the bonds of friendship, cherishing time spent with lifelong friends from school and work. A woman of faith, Pat was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington, where she and her husband attended regularly.
Above all, Pat's greatest love was her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment with them. Her beloved puppy, Katy, was a constant companion, bringing her joy and comfort. Pat's warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived and greatly missed by her loving husband, Ken, whom she married June 16, 2001; two children: Tracey Brownlee and Mickey (Sheri) Hannum; step-children: Sarah (Ed) Armbruster, Tammy (Brian) Cook, Mary (John) Tahlier, Amy Wise, Paul Morris, and Mark Morris: grandchildren: Brian Carey, Emily Hannum, Joey Hannum, Adam Brownlee, Taylor Cook, Jarrett Cook, Samantha Armbruster, Henry Tahlier : great-grandchildren: Tyler Brown, Serena Carey; one sister; Faye (the late Rayburn); one brother: Leslie (Sandra) Nunley; one sister-in-law, Lindy Nunley; several cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many special life-long friends, former co-workers, and neighbors both in Illinois and Florida.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Robert Nunley; sister, Felicia (Tom) Alberico; sister, Marie Strickland; and grandson, Justin Hannum,
