Patrick Anthony Hickey March 17, 1937 to January 30, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Patrick (Paddy) Hickey, who left us on January 30, 2025 at the age of 87 surrounded by his loving family.
Paddy was born on March 17, 1937 in New York City to the late Michael and Peggy Hickey. After leaving Manhattan and serving four years in the Navy, Paddy moved to Woodside, Queens for a short time and then to the Bronx, where met the love of his life, Rose. They were married on January 4, 1964 and just celebrated 61 years of marriage – a true testament to the strength of love and commitment. Paddy and Rose had two children – Patrick and Lori Ann. But more than anything, being a grandfather is what Paddy truly enjoyed. James and Gerard were the lights in his life.
Paddy worked for the NYC Sanitation Department for 25 years. He retired in 1994 and moved from the Bronx to Glen Spey, NY, into the house he built. Building and working on houses was one of his passions, which he truly enjoyed and there was nothing he couldn't do. He was always happy to share his skills with his family and friends.
Paddy is survived by his wife, Rose; daughter, Lori Ann; two grandsons, James and Gerard; his brother, John; his sister, Mary and her husband, Teddy; his brother in law, Andrew; his two sisters in law, Karen, Mary Clare and Mary; and many nieces and nephews, who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Paddy is predeceased by his son, Patrick and his wife, Mary; his parents, Michael and Peggy; his son in law, Jimmy; his brothers, Thomas, Joe, Danny, Michael, Thomas, and Billy; his sisters, Phyllis, Mary and Catsy; his brother in laws, Paddy, Jake and Noel; his sisters-in-law, Chickie, Rosemary, Rose and Geri.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771 on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. A prayer service will be held at 9:45am at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Anthony of Padua, 25 Beaverbrook Road, Yulan, NY 12792. Interment will follow in St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery in Eldred, NY.
