Patrick G. Koerber July 30, 1950 – December 29, 2025
Patrick Gerard Koerber, a devoted family man and proud retired firefighter, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025. He was a man known for his steady presence, kind heart, and the simple joys he shared so generously with others.
After dedicating 32 years of service as a firefighter within the S.A.F.D, Pat carried that same spirit of camaraderie and loyalty into every part of his life. He cherished time with his brothers and sisters of the S.A.F.D, especially playing Pollyanna with his fellow firefighters-a tradition that brought him great joy and lasting friendships.
A man of deep service and leadership, Pat proudly served both his country and his community. He was a Lieutenant in the S.A.F.D and a Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, roles that reflected his discipline, integrity, and lifelong commitment to service. His devotion to faith and community was further recognized as he was being honored as a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a distinction that held great meaning for him.
Family was at the center of everything he did. He loved gathering everyone together, whether it was around a table for a lively game of dominoes or outdoors while he manned the grill, proudly barbecuing for those he loved. No family get-together felt complete without him-often easy to spot in his well-worn straw cowboy hat, a familiar and comforting sight.
Pat found peace and happiness at the coast in Rockport, a place he truly loved and where he made many treasured memories. It was there, and with his family, that he felt most at home.
In recent years, Pat discovered a newfound love for road trips to Louisiana to try his luck at the casino, a pastime that brought him excitement, laughter, and plenty of stories to share. Still, nothing lit him up more than talking about his grandchildren. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and loved bragging about them to anyone who would listen, his joy unmistakable every time their names came up.
Pat's greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind: sons, Wade Koerber and Brad Koerber (Leisel); daughter, Melissa Koerber; siblings, Florence Higgins, Barbara Lubianski, Rosemary Hendrix (Ray), Greg Koerber (Darlene), and Bernadette Gillespie (Sammy); five grandchildren, Joseph Koerber, Kaci Koerber, Riley Koerber, Chase Koerber, and Cole Koerber-and one great-grandchild, Lianna. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by his warmth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, who passed in June. He missed her deeply, carrying her memory with him every day. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann and Alfred, and brother, Tom Koerber (Tina). Pat will be remembered for his warmth, his dedication to service, his love of family, and the way he brought people together. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the traditions continued, and the many lives he touched.
